Explanatory text

"The word 'kanko' comes from the small drum called a kakko. It is danced every year as a memorial service for the Bon Festival. The dancers wear headgear made from the tail hair of a white horse called a shaguma, black and white striped costumes and straw loincloths, and dance around a torch while beating a kakko hanging from their chest. It is a nembutsu dance and a spirit dance."
