Explanatory text

Founded in 1821. It was built by the 10th feudal lord, Todo Takatsugu, to educate the children of the feudal lords. It was used as a feudal domain school until 1871. The "bunba" remains today and is designated as a national historic site. It is a rare national historic site nationwide that is the remains of a feudal domain school. The plaque was written by Lord Uesugi Yozan.
