This temple is depicted in Hiroshige's drawing of Ishiyakushi-ji Inn. The name of the inn, Ishiyakushi, was also taken from the name of this temple. The principal image is a statue of Yakushi Nyorai, said to have been carved into stone by Kobo Daishi with his fingernails. This is a famous temple that was always visited by feudal lords on their way to Edo. The stone Buddha is a city designated cultural asset.
