Explanatory text
Completed in 1913, Rokkaen includes a Western-style building with a four-story tower by Josiah Conder, the British architect who designed the Rokumeikan, a Japanese-style building, and a pond garden in the front yard, which is designated as a National Important Cultural Property. All but a few parts of the garden have been designated as national scenic beauty spots.
