Explanatory text

It is the largest keyhole-shaped tumulus in northern Mie, with a total length of 90m, a diameter of 54m at the rear mound, and a height of 9m. Based on the description in the Kojiki and Nihonshoki that Emperor Yamato Takeru died in Nobono, Ise Province on his way back from his expedition to the east, the Ministry of Home Affairs designated it as the "Emperor Yamato Takeru Nobono Tomb" in 1879, and it is still managed by the Imperial Household Agency as the tomb of Emperor Yamato Takeru. Surrounding the area is Nobono Forest Park, which makes use of the historical, natural, and atmospheric features of the area.
