Explanatory text

The octagonal hall is designed to represent Basho's travels, and the roof is made of cypress bark. Inside the hall is a life-size Iga-Yaki seated statue of Basho. It is designated as a cultural property of the city. It was built in 1942 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of Basho's birth.
