Explanatory text
It is said to have started in the Edo period as a fortune-telling for bountiful harvests, with each village forming a circle bare of only loincloths, and the village that pushes the other circle into the corner of the worship hall is said to have a bountiful harvest. Nowadays, a dozen parishioners form a circle bare of only loincloths, yell "Wasshoi-wasshoi" and jump around on one leg, as a Shinto ritual to pray for bountiful harvests and safety in the home.
