You can experience the Heian period, when saikuu was at its most prosperous. The building is modeled after the "shinden-zukuri" style of residence of an aristocrat from the Heian period. In addition, taking advantage of the architectural techniques of the time, no nails are used to assemble the components. In addition to hands-on courses to learn about the annual events, techniques, and culture of the time, the museum also offers the chance to try on the Junihitoe (12-layered ceremonial kimono) and Naoshi (1 person per session) three times a day.
