Explanatory text

Around 1872, this shrine was called Kumano Kotaijinja. It is said that Seki City's founder, Sanetada, enshrined a branch of the Kumano Iimasujinja Shrine in Kii Province, and the Nagi tree in the precincts is thought to be related to this. During the Edo period, it was called Kumano Sansho Daigongen.
