Explanatory text
It began when the previous priest, Tenrei, received a cherry tree branch from Kawazu Town in Izu and took a cutting, and Daijiji Temple named it "Tenrei Sakura" after the previous priest. There are seven Kawazu cherry trees in the temple grounds, which are in full bloom early for cherry blossoms, from mid-February to early March, and are thought to be the first to be produced in Mie Prefecture.
