Explanatory text

It was called "Shichiri no Watashi" (Seven Ri Crossing) because it was seven ri away by sea from the shrine in Atsuta, Owari. The time required to reach the shrine varies depending on the tides, but it seems to have taken 3 to 4 hours. This is where you enter the Iseji route, and the "Ise Kuni Ichino Torii" (First Torii Gate of Ise Province) was built during the Tenmei era in the mid-Edo period, and has since been rebuilt every time the shrine is relocated. *This photo was taken after it was rebuilt in 2015.
