Explanatory text

300-year-old cypress trees stand tall on both sides of the approach to the temple, enveloping visitors in a state of resolute tranquil contemplation. At the back of the long approach to the temple is a hexagonal hall, whose architectural beauty blends in with the natural surroundings of the trees, creating a magnificently unique world. A standing statue of the Thousand-Armed Kannon Bodhisattva, said to have been made by Prince Shotoku, is enshrined in the hexagonal hall. This temple once served as the Odakayama Injoji Temple, and was the 25th temple on the 33 Ise Saigoku Pilgrimage, until the temple was destroyed by fire during the war by Oda Nobunaga. It is now the inner sanctuary of Jigenji Temple.
