Explanatory text

This is the residence of Basho's disciple Hattori Toho, and is one of Basho's five hermitages. It is a typical hermitage from the Edo period that has been most closely preserved in its original form. It came to be called Minomushi-an after the poem "Come and listen to the sound of the minomushi, this grass hermitage."
