The Kannon statue, which is said to have been made in the Kamakura period, is enshrined here. It is also famous as the "Kannon of Mercy" (a Buddhist mercy that removes bad luck), and before the war, it was a very lively place, with many men and women coming from far away to visit in their unlucky years.
