Explanatory text
Originally it was a quick lunch for fishermen. It is a representative local dish of Shima Town, made by chopping freshly caught live bonito into chunks, mixing it with rice and soy sauce that has been loaded onto the boat. There is also a legend that Kobo Daishi taught it as a nutritious food for fishermen.
