Pheasant hotpot, made with pheasants raised in an outdoor pasture of about 1 hectare, is a specialty of Kiwa-cho. It is popular for its low fat content and light taste, and is very filling. The hotpot is especially delicious in winter, with pheasant meat, Chinese cabbage, green onions, carrots, and other vegetables in a broth made from kelp and bonito flakes.
