Kannonji Temple of the Koyasan Shingon sect is affectionately known as "Shirako no Koyasu Kannon." The principal image of the temple is the "White Robe Kannon," which is said to have appeared from the sea of Tsuzumigaura long ago, carried by a baby. Worshippers come from all over the country to pray to the temple, which is believed to have the power to grant safe childbirth, child rearing, and fertility. The ever-growing cherry blossoms are a nationally designated natural monument. The Niomon Gate is a prefecturally designated cultural asset.
