Japan's longest gravel coast stretches for about 22 km from KumanoCity to KihoTown. This beach, which gently receives the rough Kuroshio Current, is covered with pebbles polished by the rough waves of the Kumano Nada Sea, from the upper reaches of the Kumano River through Shingu. These colorful pebbles, called "Mihama Pebbles," are picked up by "pickers" and used to make accessories.
