Explanatory text

It was built in 1887 as a rest and lodging facility for distinguished guests visiting IseJingu. Not only the building but also the gardens are designed with dignity by leading architects of the time, and the carefully selected materials and craftsmanship of the craftsmen who responded to them are examples of the best of traditional Japanese architecture. In November 2003, it was opened as a historical museum for Futami Town, and in March 2004, it was registered as a tangible cultural property designated by the prefecture.
