Nagashima Spaland a theme park representing Mie Prefecture. Approximately one-fifth of all attractions are roller coasters, making it one of Japan's leading roller coaster meccas! The author, who has experience working part-time at Nagashima Spaland, will explain recommended ways to go around each pattern, such as ``Roller Coaster Enjoyment Course'' and ``A Course You Can Enjoy Even in the Rain!'' This article is recommended for those who want to travel efficiently and with less waiting time!

What is Nagashima Spaland?

Nagashima Spaland is an amusement park located in Kuwana KuwanaCity, Mie Prefecture.

It is easily accessible as it is located just off the Wangan nagashima IC on the Isewangan Expressway, and is approximately 40 minutes by car from central Nagoya and approximately 2 hours by car from central Osaka.

There are a total of 60 attractions within the park, making it one of the largest in Japan.

With 12 roller coasters, the most in Japan, it is also known as the sacred place for thrill rides, and is a popular spot visited by thrill ride fans from all over the country.

*Number of attractions is as of September 13, 2023

Three preparations for efficient rotation

Nagashima Spaland is an amusement park that is visited by many people not only from the Tokai region but also from the Kansai region.

On Saturdays and Sundays during the day, the wait time is usually between 1 and 1.5 hours. When it's crowded, the wait time for popular attractions can be over 2 hours! In addition, the park is very spacious and has about 60 attractions, including large roller coasters such as Steel Dragon 2000, the roller coaster with the longest track in the world. To that end, the key is how to minimize waiting time and be able to ride attractions efficiently and without waste!

In my opinion, the following three preparations are especially necessary.
① Purchase tickets in advance
② Check the suspension information
③ Check the weather on the day

① Purchase tickets in advance

Tickets for Nagashima Spaland can be purchased in advance. If you line up at the ticket counter on the day of the event, you will be wasting time just by waiting. To ensure smooth entry, we recommend purchasing advance tickets at FamilyMart and 7-Eleven stores nationwide! (Tickets for Nagashima SpaLand Jumbo Seawater Pool can also be purchased during the summer.)

② Check the suspension (maintenance) information

Nagashima Spaland 's attractions undergo regular maintenance to ensure safe operation. Regular maintenance is generally performed on weekdays, and is usually completed in one day. However, some attractions are undergoing long-term maintenance, so Nagashima Spaland official websitebe sure to check the suspension (maintenance) information on to avoid the tragedy of finding out that the attraction you were looking for is closed on the day of your visit. Let's do it!

③ Check the weather on the day

Almost all of Nagashima Spaland 's attractions are outdoor. Therefore, some attractions may be closed due to weather such as rain or wind. Depending on the situation, the closing time may be shortened. To avoid the tragedy of finding out that the attraction you were looking for was canceled, be sure to check the weather on the day of your visit.

This article also introduces how to go around during light rain, so please refer to it.

① Scream machine enjoyment course

Nagashima Spaland is a ``sacred place for thrill rides'' that boasts 12 types of roller coasters, the most in Japan, including ``Steel Dragon 2000'' and the hybrid coaster ``Moby Dick.''

We will explain the course where you can enjoy the thrilling rides that are the best part of Nagashima Spaland.

*Times are approximate. Waiting times may vary depending on crowd conditions, so we cannot guarantee that all attractions will follow this course. Please note that maintenance may also be carried out.

9:30 Admission

Nagashima Spaland usually opens at 9:30. (Occasionally, tickets may be delayed due to typhoons the day before.) On days when crowds are expected, such as weekends and holidays, try to line up at the entrance gate (preferably the main gate) 30 minutes before the park opens.

9:45 After entering the park, first go to Steel Dragon 2000.

Steel Dragon 2000, one of Nagashima Spaland 's four major coaster attractions, is one of the most popular. Therefore, it is so popular that there is always a line and a long wait.

In addition, the Steel Dragon 2000 undergoes an intermediate inspection of approximately 30 minutes once a day. Boarding reception will be temporarily suspended between 13:00 and 14:00, so it's best to ride first thing in the morning.

[How to get to Steel Dragon from the main gate🎢]
① After entering the main gate, turn left at the Peter Rabbit photo spot and go straight.
②After passing Space Snack, you will see a signboard, so proceed according to the signboard.
③After passing through the attractions for kids and passing the 4D spin coaster "Arashi", you will see the gate of "Steel Dragon 2000".
*To prevent injuries, don't rush and run.

10:45 Hurry up for acrobatics

Acrobatics, a flying roller coaster where you ride while lying face down, is located in a place where you have to go around in a big circle, so it takes time to get around. It's relatively easy to get to from "Steel Dragon 2000", so go straight from the exit of "Steel Dragon 2000" and head to "Acrobat"!

The course has a total length of 1,021m and is full of attractions, including a 360-degree somersault loop, a corkscrew where you can run through while squirming, and a surprising performance where you run through the water! As you glide through the air at a maximum speed of 90km/h, you can experience the exhilarating feeling of "flying through the sky" ♫

At this rate, let's conquer Nagashima Spaland 's "four major coasters"!

11:30 Historic Coaster Corkscrew

On the way back from ``Acrobat'' to ``Steel Dragon 2000,'' walk along the road extending from the ``Bobkart'' entrance gate and you will see a blue rail.

"Corkscrew" is Nagashima Spaland 's first screaming machine. It is characterized by two consecutive acrobatic rotations, and roars as it runs through the 390m long screw course.

11:45 Unpredictable Free Spins Arashi

“Arashi” features free spins. The seat spins around erratically, leaving your feet in the air.

You can enjoy an unpredictable thrill that is a little different from the other three of the ``Four Great Coasters'' (``Steel Dragon 2000'', ``Acrobat'', and ``Moby Dick'').

Go straight to the last of the “Four Great Coasters”, “Moby Dick”! That's what I want to do, but there are many unique attractions scattered along the way, so let's ride them!

12:15 Great gap double wild mouse

``Double Wild Mouse'' is a four-seater attraction with a fancy and colorful course and a compact gondola. However, once it starts moving, it repeats sharp turns and ups and downs that make its body float, and although it is compact, it runs freely like a rat over a course that is 400 meters long. It's addictive fun.

Since there are only 4 people on board, the waiting time is at least 15 minutes.

12:45 Giant Frisbee swings so powerful you'll almost be blown away

``Giant Frisbee'' is a thrilling machine where a disk lined with seats rotates and swings 240 degrees left and right, up to a maximum of 43 meters. The powerful swing that almost sends you flying into the sky is thrilling.

Due to its highly visible location, it is so popular that there is always a line. It may seem like there is a long wait time, but since about 40 people can ride at a time, the wait time is surprisingly short considering the length of the line! Oh my god...

13:15 To reduce waiting time, we will have a slightly staggered lunch at the restaurant.

Are you hungry after screaming so much? How about having lunch a little off-peak? During peak hours, you may have to wait a long time just to enter the restaurant...You want to use that time for attractions, right?

Around the "Giant Frisbee"
There is ``Space Snack,'' which has standard menus such as yakisoba, and ``Park Restaurant,'' which has a wide variety of menus ranging from Japanese to Western cuisine.

13:45 After dinner, take a leisurely walk in the air at the Aurora Ferris wheel 🎡

Don't go to Moby Dick right after eating (lol) Let's take a little break.

The "Great Ferris Wheel Aurora" is so big that it can be seen from anywhere in the park, with a diameter of 83 meters! The 15-minute aerial walk offers a panoramic view of Ise Bay, Chita Peninsula, and more.

It is also fully equipped with air conditioning, so you can stay comfortably even in the summer.

14:05 Thrills that come one after another at breakneck speed Moby Dick

Now let's move on to the last of the "Four Great Coasters", "Moby Dick".

The thrill of running at breakneck speed through a course surrounded by wooden pillars such as a 360-degree rotating corkscrew will keep you excited!

It is the newest roller coaster among the four major coasters, so it is as popular as Steel Dragon 2000! This is one of the attractions with a long wait time.

14:50 Jumbo Viking, the world's largest voyage

The world's largest jumbo buffet. The dynamic swing, like a pirate ship hurtling through the ocean, is truly impressive.

It is said to be one of the largest in the world, with a seating capacity of over 50 people! There is almost never a wait, but it is important to get there early to get the seat you want.

*Operates several times every hour.

15:15 Space shot

Japan's only triple space shot that shoots up to the top all at once with a countdown. Can you witness the view from 75m above the ground? !

The seating capacity is 12 people, so you may have to wait a while.

15:35 Shuttle loop

After the countdown, the car will start at a speed of about 90km/h. It spins around once, then soars toward the sky, then reverses and heads backwards.

At just 30 seconds, it's one of the shortest rides in Japan, but it's packed with thrills. Although it is a simple course, you can experience a powerful thrill. This is one of my personally recommended attractions.

However, since it's close to the main gate, if you go there just before closing, there may be a long line. There may be less waiting time if you go during the day.

Did you enjoy it?

So far, we have introduced recommended courses to enjoy Nagashima Spaland 's thrilling rides, focusing on the four major coasters. In addition to this, there are many other attractions that we could not introduce, such as ``Free Fall'' and ``Ultra Twister.'' If you have time and energy, please try riding other attractions as well!

The main gate is also close to the shuttle loop, and you can buy souvenirs at the main gate shop. We have a rich lineup ranging from sweets to apparel in collaboration with attractions.

② Course that can be enjoyed even in light rain

Nagashima Spaland is an outdoor facility. For this reason, they are easily affected by the weather, and most attractions will be closed if there is a lot of rain or strong winds.

In particular, "Steel Dragon 2000" is an attraction that descends from a height of 97 meters above the ground, so it is often canceled during strong winds.

But don't let a little rain get you down. Here we will pick up attractions that you can ride even in light rain.

Space Shot is a vehicle that is relatively resistant to rain. Maybe twice as refreshing?

Please hold the safety bar firmly so that the Giant Frisbee does not fly away (it will not fly away)

You might be able to experience thrills different from the usual, such as Moby Dick's kirimomi rotation and 90-degree bank.

Ranch de Bang Bang! Few indoor attractions. Let's shoot carrots

The Ferris Wheel Aurora allows you to enjoy the scenery of the amusement park from above while avoiding the rain.

It comes in a rock'n'roll box so you don't have to worry about getting wet while riding.

Can you beat the rain with Arashi Free Spins?

Starflyer You might be able to experience a different kind of trapeze experience

One of the most rain-resistant corkscrew roller coasters

You may enjoy a more powerful flight experience than acrobatics.

The strength of Nagashima Spaland is that you can enjoy many thrilling attractions even in light rain.

*Services may be canceled depending on the level of rain, so be sure to check the operating status on the official website or at the entrance of the attraction.
