What kind of place is Yuyu Kaikan?

Yuyu Kaikan has been popular as a day-trip hot spring facility for 37 years, and reopened in October 2022. Until then, the popular theater and bingo tournaments will continue, but a book lounge with 12,000 books will be added in order to attract families and the younger generation. We now have a space where you can read various books such as comics, magazines, and novels. For those who want to relax, we have also created a nesting space and a nap room where you can relax as if you were in a private room.

Approximately 4 minutes from Yokkaichi IC on the Higashi-Meishin Expressway and 15 minutes from Komono IC on the Shin-Meishin Expressway, with a large parking lot. It is also convenient to stop by during your trip to Mie Prefecture. There is also a free shuttle bus from Takakaku Station on the Kintetsu Yunoyama Line.

The healing sauna is located at the back of the book lounge and has three saunas and a cooling room with a temperature of approximately 15℃. Both men and women can enjoy it together, as you will be required to wear indoor clothes. You can bring in your smartphone, and there's also a room where you can bring in comics from the Book Lounge. Drinks are also available in the cooling room.

Healing sauna is located in the book lounge

The healing sauna is located at the far end of the book lounge from the entrance. When I entered the library, I first changed into library clothes in the bathroom, then went to the book lounge. Choose the manga you want to read and head to the sauna. Self-service soft-serve ice cream is also sold at the entrance, and the deliciousness of the soft-serve ice cream (from 380 yen) permeates your hot body after soaking in the sauna or hot spring.

This is the sauna where you can bring your own manga.

A low temperature sauna of approximately 50℃ with the theme of "warmth". You can enjoy it slowly. You can read manga in this room. This low-temperature room is also recommended for playing games on your smartphone or taking and processing photos to post on Instagram.

瞑想サウナ

There is also a sauna where you can meditate.

The meditation sauna, which is heated to approximately 50 degrees Celsius and has the theme of "meditation," has no unnecessary decorations, and is a meditation space where you can close your eyes and enjoy the state of nothingness.

中温サウナでセルフロウリュも

Speaking of sauna, Louryu

The "heat" themed sauna is around 70℃ and you can even do self-loulu. The steam and aroma that envelops your body will leave you feeling refreshed and relaxed.

Cooling time in a 15℃ room

Cool down your flushed body in the 15°C cooling room. Even if you don't like the hot water bath in a high-temperature sauna, you can relax and cool down in the cooling room. You can also bring in drinks you bought inside the facility. When you go to the sauna, you can keep it in the cooler.

サウナと言えばサウナ飯

When should you eat sauna food?

You can enjoy sauna food and drinks at the book cafe located in the book lounge with a healing sauna. It is said that eating before sauna can cause indigestion, so it is better to eat sauna after entering the sauna. If you eat first, the blood needed to digest the food won't be able to reach your digestive system properly, causing indigestion. It's dangerous to go in on an empty stomach, so it's better to have something light in your stomach, such as a banana or mixed fruit juice, before going in.

Recommended meal #1: Stone-grilled pork kimchi bowl

The first thing that Book Cafe's chef recommends is the stone-grilled pork kimchi bowl. The rice underneath the pork kimchi is flavored with sesame oil, and the charred rice is fragrant, making it a dish that will give you a boost of energy.

サ飯2品目は石焼き四川風麻婆丼

Recommended meal #2: Stone-grilled Sichuan style mapo bowl

This is a stone-grilled Sichuan mapo bowl prepared by Book Cafe's chef. In order to develop Sameshi, the chef ate it every day after taking a bath for a month. ``It's a taste that you won't get tired of even if you eat it every day,'' he said.

Drinks that go well with rice

Speaking of sauna drinks, ``Oropo'', which is a mixture of ``Oronamin C'' and ``Pocari Sweat'', is famous, but the chef devised a drink that blends fruit and non-alcoholic Blue Curacao. The non-alcoholic version for adults is China Blue. You can also blend lychee, grapefruit, and basil seeds and add carbonated water. For children, we blend grapes, cassis, strawberries, and calpis. A drink that gently soothes the spiciness of pork kimchi and mapo.

Friendly services for those raising children

Stay at home and take a nap here

There is a reading space in the book lounge that feels like a private room, but if you want to read a book quietly or take a nap, there is a nesting space. A personal space with dimmed lighting that gives you the feeling of a quiet private room. You are also welcome to bring your own drinks. There is also a nap room next door, with recliners and blankets provided. The nap room in the back is for women only. You can take a nap in peace.

This is a hot spring

Open-air bath, indoor hot spring, and amenities

Fresh ``drinkable natural hot springs'' that gush out and are pumped up every day. You can enjoy the large open-air bath with continuous flowing water. The spring quality is a ``weakly alkaline simple hot spring'' that is said to be gentle on the body. You can take a relaxing soak while watching TV or take a break in a deck chair. You can also enjoy the cascading hot spring water that flows like a waterfall.

The indoor bath is also a natural hot spring. Enjoy the scent of natural hot springs in an open space with large glass windows overlooking the large open-air bath. There are also carbonated springs with a lot of dissolved carbon dioxide gas, and their blood circulation promoting effect is said to be about four times that of Sarayu, and the boa effect can be expected to promote metabolism. You can expect to recover from fatigue and alleviate symptoms caused by lifestyle-related diseases. There is also an ultrasonic vibration bath, a pure herbal medicinal bath made with a blend of more than 10 types of natural plants and Western herbs, a high-temperature sauna, and a cold bath.

There are plenty of bath amenities available

There is a variety of menus, mainly Japanese cuisine. The head chef's recommended menu is a luxurious gozen set of famous tempura and sashimi. Another popular dish that you cannot miss is the large fried shrimp set meal, which features deliciously delicious fried shrimp wrapped in crispy batter.

Popular theater and bingo tournaments are also popular.

Popular theater performances held at Shunsatei have been popular ever since they opened. The play has a core fan base, mainly among the elderly, and is performed twice a day, once in the afternoon and once in the evening, and many people come to the theater to enjoy the play. The bingo tournament, held every Wednesday and Sunday, is also very popular, and you can win gorgeous prizes such as 4K TVs. Especially on Sundays, the bingo cards (300 yen each) are sometimes sold out.

Delicious and fresh food too

In the hallway in front of the restaurant hall where popular plays are performed, there is also a marche lined with fresh vegetables, sweets, strawberries grown at Yuyu Kaikan, and delicious local products. In addition to restaurants and book cafes, you can also buy things to eat when you're a little hungry, as well as souvenirs to take home.

How was it?

In conjunction with the opening of the healing sauna, we have provided a thorough report on Yuyu Kaikan. How was it.

There are places and events that can be enjoyed by three generations, from babies to the elderly. It's also nice to be able to see how crowded the bathhouse is by just passing by. The night plan is 700 yen, and even if you add 350 yen for in-house wear, you can enjoy the healing sauna for 1,050 yen, which is a great deal. What's more, there is no holiday charge even on Saturdays and Sundays, and the pricing is wallet-friendly, which is great. No matter how many hours you stay or how many times you go, you will never get tired of Yuyu Kaikan. Please give it a try.

I love saunas, and even before I had a healing sauna, I often took a 3-set set of 12 minutes in a high-temperature sauna at 90 degrees Celsius, 1 minute in a cold bath, and 3 minutes in an outside air bath to balance my autonomic nervous system. Since this is a bit of a training area, I would like to comfortably ``get in shape'' in a healing sauna starting in April. There are a lot of books I want to read in the book lounge, so I would like to bring my PC and spend the whole day at Yuyu Kaikan while working.
