Nokan is a high-class inn where you can stay with your pet dog

The Ise-Shima area is a popular tourist destination with beautiful scenery and abundant seafood. Nokan, which opened in March 2024 in the Ise-Shima area, is a hot spring inn that offers the best hospitality to both dogs and their owners, with all rooms equipped with dog runs.

Not only is there a dog run, but there are also plenty of amenities for your beloved dog, and what's surprising is that your dog's stay is free.

All meals are delivered to your room and can be enjoyed at the sunken kotatsu table. This means you don't have to leave your room, so dog lovers will be happy to know they can spend all their time with their beloved pets.

All rooms have a dog run

All rooms at Nohiro have a dog run. Moreover, it is a completely private dog run separated from the neighboring rooms, so even dogs who are shy or scared of dogs like Ko-kun will be happy.

Furthermore, the dog run is as big as you can see! We stayed in a room with the second largest dog run, but it was too big for Sora-nee-san and Ko-kun. Thanks to them, our dogs were able to play in the dog run many times from early in the morning and seemed very satisfied.

This room is OK for up to six dogs. Of course, large dogs are also OK. Although this room did not have one, some rooms have a pool for owners, so not only the dogs can enjoy it, but we can enjoy it too.

The dog run is also well equipped!

The private dog run is not just spacious. It also comes with a foot washing area, a trash can for your dog's waste, and even outdoor slippers, so you can go straight to the dog run from the balcony. Since it's a family-only dog run, you can let your dog play in your loungewear or without makeup.

The private dog run is made of natural grass, so if your dog urinates, be sure to give them plenty of water right away using the watering can provided at the dog run.

Also, as a dog lover, I felt that Nohiro's warm consideration for dogs was evident in the fact that there was a ramp for dogs.

Luxurious rooms and five hospitality features

The rooms have a modern feel with a touch of warmth from wood. The sunken kotatsu table and Japanese feel are also reasons why they are so relaxing.

At Nokan, dinner and breakfast are delivered to your room, so you won't meet other guests. You can spend special time with your family and your beloved dog.

Another key point of Nohiro's hospitality is that all meals are served in the guestroom.

In addition to all of this, the room was equipped with a sink, sponge, and dishwashing detergent, so we could drink from clean cups as many times as we wanted. We could drink coffee and watch TV, and feel as relaxed as if we were at home.

In Nohiro's room, dogs are allowed everywhere except on the bed and in the bathtub! They can stay with us even during meals and baths if they want (lol). Ko-kun's favorite was the sofa in the living space, where he spent a relaxing time♪

The cage for your pet dog in the room has a thick, fluffy bed mat...♪ It's a large cage, so even a large dog can rest comfortably. We asked Sora-nee-san to be the model, but it's big enough to fit about five small dogs.

There is a wide range of amenities that dog lovers will be delighted with. Here we will introduce the wide range of amenities available.

If your dog gets too dirty in the dog run, you can rent a shampoo set at the front desk. What's more, the shampoo and conditioner are from Wankogurashi. They are salon-quality products that are also used by the family. Ko-kun, who has sensitive skin, also uses them, and they don't cause dandruff.

You can also borrow a simple bathtub for your dog at the front desk. It's the perfect size for our 6kg dog, Ko-kun.

Ko-kun, a short-legged dog, ran around in the dog run after the rain and got his belly covered in mud, so we borrowed a shampoo set. He loves baths, so he enjoyed a nice soak♪

By the way, the towels provided in the rooms are for the owners' use, so when drying your dog, be sure to ask the front desk to lend you a towel for your dog.

5. The bath will make your skin smooth: "Shinmisato Onsen"

Nokan's hot springs use the Niimisato hot springs in TsuCity, Mie Prefecture. This hot spring has been loved by people as a hot spring for healing since the Heian period, and is said to be one of the "Three Famous Hot Springs" because Sei Shonagon sang about it in her Pillow Book, "The hot springs are Nanakuri no Yu, Arima no Yu, and Tamatsukuri no Yu."

"Nanakuri no Yu" refers to Sakakibara Onsen in TsuCity, and the Niimisato Onsen water is transported from the source of Sakakibara Onsen to Nohiro.

A dog-loving TsuCity. Sakakibara Onsen is also highly recommended for families! As soon as you enter, your skin will feel as smooth as if a thin film had been applied to it.

Dinner will be seafood from Ise-Shima and Matsusaka beef

At Nohiro, you can enjoy seasonal ingredients from Mie Prefecture at dinner. You can enjoy oysters from Ise-Shima, fresh fish sashimi, Matsusaka beef steak, and more. The course menu is beautifully colored from the appetizers, and is a delight to look at and enjoy in taste.

The most interesting dish was the "Ultimate Raw Egg on Rice, Only Available at Nohkan." It's raw egg on rice with shrimp and other ingredients, but it goes beyond your typical idea of raw egg on rice, so I hope you'll be amazed when you try it at the inn!

Matsusaka beef steaks can be cooked to your liking on the grill attached to the sunken kotatsu in your room. You can also customize the flavor of your steak by adding your favorite toppings such as fond de veau sauce, rock salt, or wasabi dressing.

Seasonal desserts are visually appealing

The dinner ends with a seasonal dessert. When we stayed there, it was sakura mochi and strawberries, which were in season. The dish was also served in a moon-shaped bowl, making it a visually appealing dish.

Breakfast is a country style meal with grilled fish as the main dish.

Breakfast consisted of grilled fish, kinpira burdock, fresh vegetable salad, and green laver miso soup. The rice container was also served, but the side dishes were so delicious that I ended up having seconds of rice in the morning.

The miso soup came in a mochi shaped like a seashell, making it a beautiful-looking breakfast.

A wide variety of additive-free menus for your beloved dog

There are eight types of dinner and two types of breakfast for dogs. All dog menus are made with additive-free ingredients. There are also two types of paste-like food that senior dogs can eat.

Dinner menus include meat and fish, with a well-balanced mix of nutrients that are good for dogs. Desserts can also be ordered, so it's recommended for special occasions such as your dog's birthday or your pet's anniversary!

What dogs can stay with us?

All rooms at Nokan are dog-friendly. *No animals other than dogs allowed.

The four smaller rooms can accommodate up to three medium or small dogs. The four larger rooms can accommodate up to five dogs with no size restrictions. Please let us know how many dogs you have when making your reservation.

Conditions for dogs that can accompany you

- Have been vaccinated in accordance with the law

- Not infected with a contagious disease

About dog rules

Nohiro has a few rules regarding dogs, so we'll explain them in an easy-to-understand way.

・When you bring your dog into the room, wipe its paws with wet tissues, etc. *A foot washing area and towels for wiping dog paws are provided.

- Owners are responsible for disposing of their dog's waste.

・Throw away diapers, toilet sheets, and waste bags in the dog trash can

-Leash your dog outside the room

・Dogs are not allowed in the bed, bathtub, or pool.

・Female dogs who are within one week of going into heat or within one month of finishing bleeding are not allowed to use the dog run.

・When hotel staff come into the room to serve food, put your dog in its cage.
