Sangi Railway, which promotes the revitalization of local railways and local communities by creating the characteristics of each station and each station along the line, has established the Freight Railway Museum, Japan's first museum dedicated to railway freight transport, in collaboration with volunteers. It opened in front of niu Station on September 15, 2003.
This museum focuses on railway freight transportation, which has played a leading role in land freight transportation since the Meiji era and is still engaged in by several railway companies including JR Freight and Sangi Railway, and will be preserved as an industrial and cultural heritage for future generations. This is a facility that preserves and exhibits valuable freight cars. It is run by volunteers from all over the country, and Sangi Railway also participates in supporting volunteer activities.
As it is run by volunteers, the museum is only normally open on the first Sunday of each month (admission is free), but the vehicles on display outside can be viewed at any time, so we look forward to your visit. I'm here.

You can view and edit the sightseeing route (My Plan on My Page) that will take you around the selected spots.
