Since ancient times, Kuwana has been the 42nd post station on the 53 stations of Tokaido, and has been on the pilgrimage route to Ise. It is also a historic castle town built during the Edo period by Honda Tadakatsu, a vassal of the Tokugawa family.
Here in Kuwana, the sea and rivers meet, roads meet, people meet, and cultures intersect.
Curry is loved by all Japanese people. Did you know that the dividing line between pork and beef in that curry is KuwanaCity nagashima Town? The fact that Kuwana is the dividing line between pork curry and beef curry is because Kuwana is a place where food cultures intersect.
On one side of the plate is spicy beef curry, a tradition that has been going on since 1984.
On the other side is a refreshingly mellow original pork curry made with pork from Mie Prefecture.
