On the summit of Mt. Ryozan is Ryozenji Okunoin Temple, and the surrounding area is a colony of evergreen broad-leaved forest of Japanese azalea and Japanese boxwood.
Because it was located within the grounds of Reisenji Temple, it has been preserved in its natural state, and there is also a mountain climbing course in the vicinity, where hikers can enjoy the natural forest that changes throughout the seasons.
There are about 300 Asebi plants and around 100 Boxwood plants, both of which produce small white flowers. When in full bloom, it gives a very pretty impression.
The forest is dense and dark, and there are few undergrowth plants.
It was designated as a prefectural natural monument on March 31, 1973.
