Experiential learning Ise Katagami Museum Ise Katagami Shiryokan
Ise katagami is a type of stencil used for dyeing kimonos, etc., and is made by carving patterns into astringent paper using various techniques.
The Ise Katagami Museum was opened in 1997 by restoring the house of Terao Saibei, one of Shirako's leading pattern wholesalers, in a late Edo period building.
In addition to storing and exhibiting paper pattern materials, you can also try out hands-on experiences.
The bookmark/mini colored paper experience (shibu paper) is carved with a cutter. Once the mini colored paper is carved, you can also paste it onto colored paper. (actual cost)
