A ginkgo tree so big that it hides the school building

The large ginkgo tree is cherished by the local community as a symbol of the Hobara district.
It is registered as a town-designated cultural property (natural monument) as the ``Ohatsuki Ginkgo''.

The tree is estimated to be about 400 years old, and is larger than the three-story school building.
During the autumn leaves season, it is illuminated at night, and you may see a completely different view than during the day. Many photographers come from outside the prefecture.

The best time to see them is usually from mid-November to late November.
