Segiji Temple Segidera
It is said that during the Tenpyo period (729-748), the monk Gyoki built this temple in Kametani-go, Maeyama-cho, in honor of Emperor Shomu's imperial wish.
In the Middle Ages, it was moved to the west of Geku area, and fortunately escaped the Great Yamada Fire of 1670, but it was relocated to its current location by the Yamada Magistrate who was concerned about the proximity of the shrine grounds and the temple gate.
During this time, this temple was a pioneer temple of Ominesan Shugendo, and in its heyday there were more than ten sub-temples, but only Itoku-in, which was Goma-do, remains today.
However, Saito Daigoma, which is held on July 7th every year, is called one of the three major Goma in Japan, and preserves the traditions of the time with intense prayers for everything from the horaku of both the inner and outer shrines to the joy of all people. . In addition, there are haiku monuments of Kampukan XIII Sasagaokako (1756-1817), Tokuda Tsubakido (1758-1825), and others in the precincts.
