Whale Memorial Tower Kujiranokuyoto
A monument built in 1671. There is an inscription on the front that reads ``Thirty-Three Whales Memorial Tower.''
In the past, Kumano's folk custom was to celebrate every time they got 33 yellowtail, tuna, etc., calling it ``Man no Celebration,'' and this memorial tower was built to commemorate this.
There are similar memorial towers in the precincts of Houra Kaizenji Temple and at the west exit of Onigajo.
