Hamabou grows in clusters near the mouth of the Aokawa River in MatsusakaCity. It is said that this plant was first planted as a landmark from the sea during the Edo period, when there was a port on the Aoi River, but the number of this plant has been decreasing recently. It is located on the north side of "Heartful Mikumo" and flowers usually bloom from July to August every year.

MinamiiseTown is said to be home to one of the largest Hamabō colonies in Honshu, with approximately 1,000 trees, and many people visit during the season to see it. Flowering usually occurs from mid-July to mid-August.
