The bicycle trip through history is a bicycle trip event using Komobility, a bicycle rental service located in KomonoTown, Mie Prefecture.
The first "Tomboy Princess Michikusa Course" to be held on October 14th (Saturday) will take you to places connected to Yaehime, a great figure in KomonoTown and the granddaughter of Oda Nobunaga.

Families, couples, friends, or even individuals can participate.
*Advance registration is required to participate. Please see the bottom of this article for details.
Now, I want to know more about the tour! For those who are interested, we rode an electric-assisted bicycle and experienced the tour course with Mr. Sakaguchi and Mr. Nakajima from KomonoTown Hall!
Start from Michi-no-eki Komono
The meeting place is "Michi-no-eki Komono".
If you are coming by train, it is a 6 minute walk from Nakakomono Station on the Kintetsu Yunoyama Line. If you are coming by car, you can use the parking lot at Michi-no-eki.
Rent an electrically assisted bicycle here. You will be given detailed instructions on how to use it, so it is safe for first-time users and children!
*Persons over 140cm tall can participate.
Once you get used to the test ride at Michi-no-eki parking lot, it's time to set off!
Highlight 1: Komono Castle Ruins
A quick ride on an electrically assisted bicycle will soon bring you to the first spot, the Komono Castle Ruins.
Komono Castle is said to have been the residence of the Hijikata family, the feudal lord of the Komono clan. The castle was abandoned in the 6th year of Meiji, and the building was demolished because it was in danger of collapsing due to aging. It is now the site of Komono Elementary School and a stone monument remains.
The curator taught me about the history of the time, and I was deeply moved to realize that lords and princesses really lived here.
Take a commemorative photo at the stone monument and move on to the next location!
Highlight 2: Sumiyagura model
We also went for a short bike ride and saw a model of the Sumiyagura tower at the Komono District Community Center.
There is an anecdote that when the Hijikata family was to receive a princess from a court noble in 1899, the people of the territory worked together to quickly build a corner turret for the princess.
The elaborate model of the corner turret was created by Yanagi Model Giken, a local company. While looking at the model carefully, the curator taught us about how the corner turret was made and what it looked like at the time of its construction.
Highlight 3: Rich natural scenery
Next destination: We drive through the countryside towards Kenshoji Temple.
It's a great feeling to take a bicycle trip while enjoying the view of the countryside and the foothills of Mt. Suzuka.
I rode my bike for about 30 minutes from the start to this point, but it was easy because it was electric assisted. The wind on your cheek feels so good!
After a leisurely run, I took a short break at a place on the bank. Enjoy a snack while looking out at nature.
Highlight 4: Kenshoji Temple
We have arrived at Kenshoji Temple! Once you've reached this point, you're entering the second half of your trip.
Kenshoji Temple is the family temple of the Hijikata family of the Komono clan, and contains the graves of the feudal lord and Princess Yae.
On this day, I was able to hear from the chief priest. In the past, the lord's memorial tablets were enshrined there for the public to see, but in recent years Yaehime has attracted attention, and now Yaehime's memorial tablets are also displayed together.
Highlight 5: Yaehime’s Tomb
After praying, we will head to the Hijikata family's grave.
The grave is located on a slightly elevated place next to the temple, and you can climb up the stone steps.
It is said that it was once washed away by heavy rain during the Edo period, but it has been restored and Yaehime's grave is located in a position where you can watch over the graves of successive feudal lords.
Highlight 6: Hirohata Shrine
We have finally arrived at the final spot of this tour, Hirohata Shrine.
There are many places you'll want to take photos, such as the bridge beyond the torii gate and the forest with a majestic atmosphere. We were also excited and took commemorative photos!
Hirohata Shrine was founded when Mr. Yu Hijikata, the first lord of the Komono clan, was invited to visit it from Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine in Kyoto.
It seems that the roads around the shrine have remained almost unchanged since the Edo period. I was able to visit a shrine that has been in this area for a long time and feel the history.
If you make a reservation in advance, you can also experience prayer.
Arrived at Michi-no-eki!
Finally, we arrived at Michi-no-eki Komono! I'm home~~!
We asked Mr. Sakaguchi and Mr. Nakajima, who toured the course with us, what they thought.
Mr. Sakaguchi: ``This was my second time riding an electrically assisted bicycle! It was as easy as ever and I didn't get tired. What impressed me the most was Hirohata Shrine. It was beautiful and had a great atmosphere. ”
Mr. Nakajima: ``It's not often that I get a chance to see the grave of a lord, so being able to visit the grave at Kenshoji Temple was a valuable experience. It was my first time riding an electrically assisted bicycle, so I was nervous at first. , I got used to it right away and had fun!”
I had fun running with Sakaguchi-san and Nakajima-san, too!
Although I have lived in KomonoTown for a long time, there were still many things I learned and saw for the first time.
A truly luxurious bicycle trip where you can tour historical places, enjoy beautiful scenery, and enjoy delicious food from KomonoTown! I would like everyone to experience it.
