About Sugawara Shrine
This shrine is dedicated to the Heian period scholar and politician Michizane Sugawara as the god of learning, and some people visit this shrine to pray for success in their entrance exams.
The wooden Tenjin statue, also known as the statue of Sugawara Michizane, has been designated as a tangible cultural property by the prefecture.
Near the main shrine, there are sweet-scented yellow wax plums and ``Omimamada'' flowers that bloom in various colors of pink and white.
About the plum festival and the best time to see it
There is a plum grove of weeping plums on the premises, and many people visit during the plum festival.
This year's best time to see the cherry blossoms is expected to be from mid-February to early March, and banners and parking lot signs are being installed around the shrine.
*As of February 21st, it is at its peak! Please come early♪
During the plum festival, the area is crowded with people, so much so that the surrounding parking lots are full ◎
Approximately 300 weeping plum trees donated by parishioners and worshipers are in full bloom, and you can enjoy a variety of scenery ranging from white to pale pink to deep peach.
There are also several kitchen cars and tents selling snacks, and it is said that you can watch the monkey mawashi show on irregular weekends every year.
The konjac oden, which is scheduled to open around February 18th, is very popular for its size and miso sauce...! At the adjacent Rainbow venue parking lot, there will be occasional roast beef bowl kitchen trucks, so please relax and enjoy the view of the weeping plum blossoms over lunch.

It is a spot where wild birds also come ♪
