About Yuki Shrine

Yuki Shrine is dedicated to Yuki Munehiro, who served Emperor Go-Daigo and contributed to the establishment of the Kenmu Chuko era.

It has been said to be Yuki Forest since ancient times, and was also called Yuki Mound or Yuki Myojin.

You can also see Japan's largest guardian dog, created by Seibo Kitamura and said to be 1 meter 40 centimeters in height.

About the plum festival and the best time to see it

Weeping plum blossoms at Yuki Shrine

At Yuki Shrine, you can admire about 300 plum blossoms, mainly weeping plums.

This year's The plum festival runs from February 10th (Saturday) to mid-March.opening of Then, 9:00 to 17:00 (no regular holidays) (Last admission until 4:30 pm)◎
The best time to see them is expected to be from mid-February to early March, and they are currently blooming!

Enjoy the weeping plum blossoms that bloom like a chandelier and the scent of plums that spreads throughout the garden.

Many wild birds such as adorable white-eyes and bulbuls come here!

White-eyes come to the weeping plum and other plum blossoms at Yuki Shrine many times a day.
Because of its warbler color, it is often mistaken for a Japanese warbler, but its characteristic feature is that it has white eyes and a chirping sound, and it can be seen flying back and forth between the plum trees in plum gardens during mealtimes.
The petals that fall every time the white-eye moves are also beautiful, and a carpet of plum petals will appear on the ground at the end of the best season.

In addition, many wild birds such as bulbuls and daurian redstarts come to Yuki Shrine. Please also leave photos of weeping plums and wild birds ◎

*Many photographers gather here to take pictures of plum blossoms and white-eyes, but the use of tripods is prohibited as there are some narrow paths.
*Please be considerate of the customers around you when taking photos, so as not to prolong your photo session by blocking the road.

There are also shrine events that the general public can observe!

At Yuki Shrine, a Shinto event is scheduled that is open to the general public.

・February 24th (Sat) 11:00am -Isetsu Seven Lucky Gods Plum Blossom Viewing Prayer Festival
*If you would like to participate in the Plum Blossom Viewing Prayer Festival, registration will begin at 10:30. We will pay a donation of 1,000 yen and tour around the plum garden.

・February 25th (Sunday) 11:00am -Iaido dedication performance

The teahouse will also be revived♪
