掲載日:2024.02.21

In Kameyama KameyamaCity, there is a colony of Mitsumata that is carefully cultivated by the local people at Sekisui Gorge, which is known as kachiji full of natural scenery.

We would like to introduce you to "Mitsumata Forest Walking" which is held in this colony!

What is Mitsumata?

A plant belonging to the Chrysanthemum family that is said to be native to the Himalayas region of China. Cute cotton-shaped yellow flowers bloom from March to April.

It was named ``mitsumata'' because its branches always divide into three prongs. It has been used as a raw material for Japanese paper since ancient times.

In Japan, they live west of the Kanto region and often grow in clusters in mountainous areas. There are several spots in Mie Prefecture where you can see Mitsumata, one of which is Mitsumata Forest in KameyamaCity.

Let's see the yellow pompoms blooming in Kameyama! About Mitsumata Forest Walking

On the side of Kameyama City, KameyamaCity, there is a place where Mitsumata flowers, which are rare in Japan, grow in clusters. It is called the ``Forest in the Sky'' and is carefully nurtured by the ``Mitsumata Love Association'' made up of local residents. Every year, we hold a walking event to coincide with the flowering period of Mitsumata.

Mitsumata Forest Walking is a 2-hour round trip course spanning approximately 6 km from the Sekisuikei Campground Outdoor Training Facility to the Mitsumata Colony and Tenku no Mori. At the event, you will be accompanied by a local guide, and you will be able to enjoy locally produced delicious rice for lunch.

By the way, Tenku no Mori is a valuable spot that will be specially opened only for this event! !

Please note that entry is not permitted outside of events.

Yamaico!

My name is Yamaico! and I have been running for 10 years, and have been running and climbing for 2 years.
I do road runs every day, sometimes I climb mountains, and sometimes I run in the mountains.

Last year, I visited Sekisuikei through the activities of Mie Travel Ambassador. I felt that it was a great place to do activities in a place rich in nature! I hope that many people will come to ``Mitsumata Forest Walking'' as an event to learn about Sekisuikei and as an opportunity to appreciate the beautiful nature of Sekisuikei!

I will continue to share about Mie's wonderful run spots and mountains based on my hobbies of running and mountain climbing!
