A plum grove that actually has a history
At the end of the Edo period, many plum blossoms were blooming in the area that would later become Nanbu Kyuryo Park. Before the war, there were 9,000 plum trees, and the scent of plums filled the air, and many people would take the train to see them. The flyer for the plum festival from that time still remains.
A civic group planted trees to revive the site, which had fallen into disrepair after the war. Now, 2,700 plum trees bloom with beautiful flowers in spring. A plum festival is also held on March 3rd. Why not go see the plum blossoms at Nanbu Kyuryo Park, which are in full bloom?
