At Takada SENJUJIHeadTempleoftheShinshuTakadaSchool in Tsu City, TsuCity, a painting of the Great Nirvana will be exhibited for a limited time in conjunction with the Nirvana Ceremony to praise the virtues of Buddha.
The Buddha's Reclining Buddha is a depiction of the Buddha's passing away, which is recorded in the sutra called the Nirvana Sutra.
The Great Nirvana painting owned by SENJUJIHeadTempleoftheShinshuTakadaSchool is huge, measuring 20 tatami mats, and unfortunately it is not known who created it, but it is thought to have been created in the late Edo period.
During the period when the Great Nirvana painting is open to the public, a monk will explain the painting (explanation).
