Mitsumata is a deciduous shrub whose bark is known as a raw material for Japanese paper. The tip of the branch is divided into three parts, and yellow flowers bloom at the end.

At Kitabatake-JinjaShrine in TsuCity, you can receive a special Goshuin stamp made from 100% Mitsumata Japanese paper called Misugi Washi, which coincides with the blooming season of Mitsumata.

Mitsumata is also known as a raw material for Japanese paper, and the local ``Mitsumata Community Development Council'' creates valuable handmade Mitsumata Washi (Misugi Washi). The goshuin stamps made using this Japanese paper are designed with Mitsumata flowers and the characters ``Kousa'', which is another name for Mitsumata.
Because they are handmade washi paper, each Goshuin stamp has its own unique personality, such as the finish on the surface and edges.
