What is Anamushi-no-sato?

The name "hole bug" sounds intriguing!
"Anamushi" is a place name, and it is said to come from the fact that the district name of the former village of Benpoji was "Anamushi."

The parkis filled with well-maintained rural nature.

There are boardwalks in the park, where you can stroll along,

You can enjoy the view while taking a break in the gazebo. From June to July, early summer flowers such as hydrangeas and lotus flowers are in full bloom.

  • hydrangea

It is close to the bridge and on the mountain side there are many hydrangeas in full bloom.

Hydrangeas start to bloom here and there from late May and are at their best from early to late June.

The photo above was taken on May 25th, when the flowers were just starting to bloom.

I expect that by the time this article is published, the hydrangeas will be in full bloom.

  • Water lilies

Beside the boardwalk is a water lily pond, with delicate flowers floating on the water's surface.

Water lilies also begin to bloom here and there from late May, and are at their best from early June to late July.

(By the way, as of May 25th, two flowers were in bloom.)

The photo above shows water lilies and lotus flowers.

Both water lilies and lotus have the kanji character "ren" in them, but can you tell the difference?

They are classified as different plants, so it might be fun to try to spot the differences!

  • lotus

Deep in Anamushi-no-sato-Sato there is a lotus pondwhere you can enjoy many different lotus flowers, including white and pink.

The best time to see the lotus flowers is from mid-June to mid-July.

(As of May 25th, it seemed like the lotus season was still a little ways off.)

Lotus plants have leaves and flowers at the end of their stems that grow above the water surface (different from the water lilies we saw earlier).

Furthermore, lotus flowers tend to bloom early in the morning and close around noon, so it's best to visit in the morning to see the lotus flowers in full bloom!

In addition, the Lotus Festival is held in July, when the lotus flowers are in full bloom.

This year's event will be held on Saturday, July 13th, 2024, so we recommend you check it out.
