Why not go out tomato picking with your family and friends, an experience that children from 3 years old can enjoy?

What is "Kuramoto Farm"?

Inside the house

Kuramoto Farm started a tomato picking business seven years ago with the aim of revitalizing the local area. Participants can enjoy freshly picked, sweet cherry tomatoes, and the greenhouse is filled with the bright laughter of participants enjoying tomato picking.

What is Hime Toma?

Cross section of Hime Toma

Hime Toma is an original mini tomato from Kuramoto Farm. It has a shiny finish like a cherry, and its surface is not perfectly round but rather uneven. Its thin skin makes it squishy, and unlike ordinary mini tomatoes, it has a soft, gummy texture. It has a high sugar content and tastes just like fruit. Its easy-to-eat sweetness is complemented by a refreshing sourness that is characteristic of tomatoes.
Even children who don't like tomatoes will probably think that they can eat Hime Tomatoes!

The secret behind the sweetness of Hime Toma

The contrast with the green leaves is beautiful.

The secret to the sweetness of Hime Toma is to stress the roots. Water them in small amounts at a time, 30 to 40 times a day. This concentrates the moisture in the plant, bringing out its sweetness. Kuramoto Farm's unique bag cultivation method is also the secret to its delicious taste.

Hime Toma grew shiny and red
Rental scissors and a container for storing stems

After being taught how to harvest by a staff member and borrowing special scissors and a container to put the stems in, it's time to start picking tomatoes!

Choose tomatoes that are red and shiny. To harvest, use scissors to cut just above the stem. Each seedling will have slightly different levels of freshness, firmness, and sweetness, so we recommend trying different seedlings and comparing them to find the one you like best. Enjoy the taste of freshly picked tomatoes to your heart's content for as long as you can.

You can take home as many souvenir tomatoes as you can pack. Enjoy them at home or share them with your friends.

The scissors have sharp tips, so please be careful when letting small children handle them.

How much can you eat in an hour? Can I bring anything with me?

I ate as much as I could within the time limit.
Souvenir tomatoes

This is an estimate of how many you can eat in an hour, but in my case, I was able to eat about 50, enough to fill up my stem cup!

Normally a pack contains 15 to 20 tomatoes and costs 550 yen, so this all-you-can-eat buffet is a great deal, considering it's a rare experience and also comes with a pack of tomatoes as a souvenir.

We received some great ideas about what to bring in. If you want to eat chilled tomatoes in the summer, please bring a bowl and ice water from home. Chilled tomatoes are great. I definitely want to try it!
