“Basque Gourmet Festival” BARRIKOTE Barrel Apple Wine Experience

During the same period, a barrel-brewed cider experience will also be held in front of Bar Restaurant Araz on VISON San Sebastian Street.
Barrel apple wine experience

What is BARRIKOTE?
It is an essential item at Basque festivals, and apple wine is served in small barrels straight out of the barrel.
Originally, it was a small barrel that contained cider, and like the large barrels used to brew cider, it was made of chestnut wood.

It is said that the origin of apple cider brewing is that after all the cider brewing was finished, apple juice was fermented in small barrels and then served to the neighbors. Nowadays, at village festivals and other events, they are set up in squares and frontons (Basque ball courts), where participants can buy cups and enjoy barrel-brew cider to their heart's content.

The barrel-brewed cider that is popular in the Basque Country will be available at VISON for two days only.
