Japan's noisiest festival
This festival is held mainly at Kasuga Shrine KuwanaCity, and is known as ``Japan's Noisiest Festival'' and ``The World's Strangest Festival.''
Up to 40 ornately decorated festival cars are equipped with gongs and drums, and the sound they make all at once is a powerful and heroic festival that overwhelms the onlookers.It is a summer tradition in Kuwana, and is loved by locals. It has been popular for a long time.
During Honraku, the parade goes to Kasuga Shrine, so the sight of the parade along the old Tokaido is said to be fierce and give a sense of bravery.
There is also a historically valuable ceremonial car with carvings by Kazushiro Tachikawa Tomishige and decorations by Koun Takamura, and residents from each district come out to participate, making it the biggest entertainment event held once a year.
On March 7, 2007, it was designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan, and on December 1, 2016, it was included in the Representative List of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity as "Yama, Hoko and Yatai Festivals."
