Iso Shrine Azalea Park [Flowers] Isojinjanotsutsujikoen

Iso Shrine Azalea Park [Flowers]
Iso Shrine Azalea Park [Flowers]

Date: Late April to early May

It was founded in the 25th year of the reign of Emperor Suinin, and when Wahime no Mikoto worshiped Amaterasu-Omikami and stayed at the shrine here, it was called Isomiya. After the great deity was enshrined on the banks of the Isuzu River in Uji, Isonomiya was called Iso Shrine, and has been widely worshiped as one of the Engishiki shrines since ancient times.
The area around the temple grounds is filled with azaleas, and during the peak viewing season, the area is surrounded by bright pink and white flowers.
