Oike Swamp Plant Community [Nationally Designated Natural Monument] Oike Marsh Plant Community

A variety of rare plants grow in clumps in the lowlands, including swamps, formed in the eastern lowlands of the Hokusei Tertiary Plateau, and colorful flowers bloom from spring to autumn.
Currently, it is divided into a designated area in the west, where there is spring water, and an area designated in the east, where there is a pond.
More than 300 species of plants grow in this plant community, and it is a valuable wetland from a phytogeographical perspective, including the distribution of many rare plants and animals.
It was designated as a national natural monument on October 11, 1951.
