Irregular iris community, designated as a natural monument by Mie Prefecture

The wild irises that used to grow in the area cannot be seen due to the deterioration of their habitat, but about 2,000 of them have been planted on private land nearby and are being carefully preserved by the locals. The Japanese iris, which grows wild in the wetlands of Japan, has migrated across the ocean and is also distributed overseas, and is considered to be the original species of the Japanese iris that is currently cultivated. Every year in June, you can see the beautiful purple flowers of the Irregular iris colony all over the place, and it is a delight for those who see it.
It was designated as a prefectural natural monument on April 7, 1955 (S30).
