Monaka is named after Basho's haiku, ``Hatsu Shigure Saru mo Hoshige Ya,'' which was recited in the village. There are two types: Tsubuan and white bean paste (raisins).

Get off at Kintetsu Ueno-shi Station, take the bus bound for Shiru Tsuki for 23 minutes, get off at Yamada, and walk 10 minutes.
Approximately 10 minutes by car from Nakase Interchange on the Meihan National Highway on National Route 163.
