Tokushi Shrine Trees

The grounds of Tokushi Shrine, which faces AtashikaBeach across National Route 311, is home to a shrine rich in large trees rarely seen in the prefecture.
Located at the southern end of the Atashika district, with the mountains in the background and the ocean in front, it is crowded with beachgoers in the summer.
The forest is lined with large trees, with the trunk circumference of the Ogatamanoki approximately 3m and the Yamabuki approximately 1.9m in circumference, and a representative example of these trees growing next to the stone steps of the shrine.
In addition, the sub-tall tree layer is home to clumps of Camellia japonica, Camellia japonica, and Tachibana japonica, while the shrub layer is home to clumps of Cucumber, and the vegetation layer is home to a variety of bracken.
It was designated as a prefectural natural monument on March 7, 1941 (S16).
