The Hongu Road splits off from the Hamakaido Road at Hananoiwaya-jinjaShrine in Arima-cho, KumanoCity City, and runs through the mountains to Kumano Hongu Taisha.
It passes through the deep mountains and passes through the Sanwa Ohashi Bridge, which spans the Kumano River, and connects to Shiko (Wakayama Prefecture) on the opposite bank.

Most of the course is prefectural roads and forest roads, but along the way there are many historical sites such as Jizo statues that remain, and you can enjoy the beauty of Kumano's landscape, including the idyllic countryside.
