This is a temple of the Nishiyama Zenrin-ji school of the Jodo sect, which was opened in 1625 by Daiosho Shinku.
In the precincts, there is a memorial stone commemorating the ``Aburaya Riot,'' a stabbing incident that occurred in the red-light district ``Aburaya,'' which is now known as the Kabuki Kyogen ``Ise Ondo Koineba,'' and the tomb ``Hiyokuzuka'' of Son Fukusai, where memorial services are held. .
