300-year-old cypress trees stand tall on both sides of the approach, enveloping visitors with a resolute and serene view.
At the back of the long approach to the shrine is the Rokkaku-do Hall, whose architectural beauty blends with the nature of the grove to create a unique world.
The Rokkaku-do Hall houses a standing statue of the Thousand-Armed Kannon Bodhisattva, said to have been created by Prince Shotoku.
This temple has a long history as Otakayama Hikijoji Temple, which was the 25th temple out of the 33 temples in Ise Saigoku, and the temple tower was destroyed by Oda Nobunaga's military fire.
It is now the inner temple of Jigen-ji Temple.
Senju Kannon is opened once a year on a Saturday and Sunday in early April. It is popular as a Buddha of matchmaking.
Founding year: Edo.
