Chigusa Hydroelectric Power Plant

It was built in April 1908 as a power plant that generates 350 kilowatts of electricity using water from the Asaaki River, which originates in the valley between Mt.Gozaisho and Mt. Shakagatake. Expansion work was carried out in May 1972, increasing the capacity to 500 kilowatts, but the original structure remains and is still distributing electricity within the town.
A dam to take water from the river was built 2 kilometers upstream of the power plant, and the water was forced to fall all at once through a penstock pipe 528 meters long with a height difference of 121 meters, turning a water turbine generator to generate electricity. I am. This is a mini power plant, which is very rare these days.
